Didja hear? Lancôme just announced that 24-year-old English actress Lily Collins is their newest ambassadress (love that word). Here’s the press image, where she’s looking all ballerina-like:

Her grandmother was a ballerina, actually, so it’s in the genes—and ballerinas are also the theme of her first makeup collection with the brand. It’s called “French Ballerine” and launches in January 2014. From what I see in that pic, I want!

And isn’t Lily a nice score for Lancôme? Here at beautyeditor, we already knew she was one to watch—I feel like I’ve been jealous of her eyebrows forever. But I hadn’t realized just how much she’s been killing it lately in hair and makeup, especially for her press tour for The Mortal Instruments. (Totally reminds me of the Emma Stone Spider-Man junket.) It was actually a comment from reader OrdinaryMars who clued me in and requested a Lily beauty round-up. With the new Lancôme partnership, the timing couldn’t be better. Get ready to start seeing a lot more of this girl!

Here’s my top 10 list of her best hair and makeup looks so far…

1. Radiant skin, long lashes, berry lips and a soft updo

This was at the Vanity Fair Oscar party back in 2012. It’s super-simple, yes, but when your skin looks like that, do you really need any bells and whistles? Her complexion is the star attraction. To prep, makeup artist Kayleen McAdams used Caudalie Beauty Elixir underneath Clé de Peau Beauté Refining Fluid Foundation, Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer and Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Color in Fresh Ginger.

Other standouts are the fans at the inner corners of her eyebrows (as always), the long, defined lashes (courtesy of CoverGirl LashBlast Mega Volume Mascara on the top and Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara on the bottom) and the subtle pinky-berry lipstick (Tom Ford Lip Color in Casablanca). The updo by stylist Mara Roszak has volume without being messy, thanks to Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, and matches perfectly with the whole “English rose” thing she’s got goin’ on.

2. Gold shadow, sheer red lips, bangs and half-up hair

Gosh, I wouldn’t have recognized her here, at the LA premiere of Mirror, Mirror in 2012. It’s the bangs. Even though it’s a shame that they cover up her exquisite brows, she does have particularly good, thick hair for them. (Not the stringy kind like mine, which makes bangs clump together and look ridiculous in photos.) Maybe half-up hair isn’t the most stylish thing, but I do always like it when I see it.

Makeup-wise, it’s the same Clé de Peau Beauté Refining Fluid FoundationTarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer and Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Color in Fresh Ginger, but with CoverGirl Clean Pressed Powder for Sensitive Skin on top to hide shine. I love that sheer red lip, which is Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick in Cerise. And the greenish-gold shadow that picks up light at the inner corners of her eyes, Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Epatant, is awesome for a holiday look.

3. Bold brows, berry lips and centre-parted wavy hair

So stunning! (This is from another Mirror, Mirror promo last year.) I don’t know what happened to the bangs, but she’s since cut her hair. I guess I know why—it’s more Hollywood now to have the mid-length—but the long was really sexy. It also looks like her eyebrows are darker, fuller and a bit straighter here, which I love. The slightly masculine straight brow was a trend from S/S ’13, if you recall. The bold mouth balances it all out, and the flushed cheeks keep it fresh and youthful. I WISH I knew what those products were. Anyway, I think the blush is key here—without it, the dark lips and hair might’ve given her look a harder edge.

4. Orangey-red lips, bold blush and tousled hair

Here’s Lily at the Costume Designers Guild Awards this year, with shorter, redder hair. It looks like it’s been curled with the ends out (see how they’re straight?) and tousled with a ton of dry shampoo. I don’t like it as well as the classic dark curls and berry lips, but I do applaud the risk taking.

On her skin is Estée Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup for Face and Body, Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light. The blush, Stila Convertible Color in Gladiola, harmonizes well with that look-at-me orangey-red lip, which is Bite Beauty High Pigment Matte Pencil in Zinfandel. I love the cleaner eye (less lashes and shadow) with the bold lipstick and blush.

5. Pink lip gloss and mid-length waves

Lily is wearing a completely different colour palette here, at Comic-Con this summer—it’s all cool pinks instead of warm shades on her lips and cheeks. Doesn’t the pastel pink (which is only slightly shiny, not very glossy) look amazing in a semi-’80s way? I love it with brown hair; it’s a little riskier with blondes. (Remember Hayden tried it?) I also want to marry this hair. It’s so young Hollywood right now—everyone’s doing it—but the waves look so cool at that length.

6. Peachy-pink lips and cheeks with brown smoky eyes and textured hair

This is an interesting one, don’t you think? It’s from a photocall in Madrid, and she’s rocking a similar hairstyle to what she had at the Costume Designers Guild Awards. Less frizzy, but still straight-ish with some bend to it. I am so, SO sad that I can’t find a credit for that gorgeous lipstick, whatever it is. Again, the blush is the same colour to keep in harmony. They’re paired with some medium brown eyeshadow that goes up above the crease, and mascara—no liner. Love that idea because it adds a bit of definition and drama, but the colour isn’t too dark and there aren’t any harsh lines, so it keeps her makeup looking really light and soft.

7. Winged eyeliner, pale pink lips and big ’60s hair

Lily Collins Teen Choice Awards 2013 Lily Collins top 10 hair and makeup looks (new beauty crush alert!)

I think this is the event where Lily really started to push the beauty envelope (it’s the Teen Choice Awards), going for a super-retro bouffant hairstyle with ’60s makeup to match. Hairstylist Mara Roszak used Leonor Greyl volumizing mousse and L’Oréal Paris EverStyle Energizing Dry Shampoo for volume, and the updo itself actually sounds easier than it looks. It’s just a high ponytail with the ends tucked under to create a bob, and then a headband on top. Somehow, I don’t think my version will work out as well! As for the eye makeup, I’m always aspiring to achieve that kind of thing with my liquid liner, so I think it’s super-pretty. And the lips are toned down without going beige.

8. Berry gloss, rosy cheeks and smooth waves

Lily’s in Mexico City here and the hair is a new look we haven’t seen yet: smooth, bouncy, curled-under waves. It’s like ultimate blowout hair. With the mid-length, it gives her a more sophisticated look—and of course the makeup makes her look even more radiant. The blush is a little more peach than the pinkier, berry-toned lips, and the same colour is echoed in the eyeshadow. I can’t get over how sparkly her eyes are, no doubt assisted by the defining mascara and slight highlight at the inner corners. Love this one!

9. Ombré lips with super-sleek hair

Now check out this beauty risk-taking! At the LA premiere of The Mortal Instruments, Lily did straight, sleek, side-parted hair that was pinned back on the sides, and then paired with with a dark cherry lip. I’m not sure if the runway-style Ombré effect with the lipstick was intentional or not, but let’s just say it was since it makes her even cooler. I don’t have a makeup breakdown for this one, but that’s okay, because I’m more into the hair (while I love the lip, I think her skin looks fresher in the other looks).

To do the hair, Mara Roszak applied the Leonor Greyl volumizing mousse before blow-drying and flat-ironing, and then tamed flyaways with a tiny bit of Leonor Greyl Éclat Naturel Styling Cream. Then she used Leonor Greyl Gel a l’Hibiscus to slick back the sides before pinning them. Totally easy and something we could all copy.

10. Peach lips, soft winged eyes and a sleek, centre-parted bun

Lily Collins Vanity Fair Oscar party 2013 Lily Collins top 10 hair and makeup looks (new beauty crush alert!)

I left this one ’til the end because it’s from the 2013 Vanity Fair Oscar party—the first pic was from the same event in 2012—and what a difference a year makes! Lily’s style has just become better and better. Here, I like every. single. thing. Few people look good with their hair parted right down the middle and then scraped into a low bun, but it’s the perfect ‘do to show off her gorgeous features and compliment the lacy dress and dangly earrings.

The makeup’s also really cool. She totally committed to peach on the lips and the cheeks, and then paired it with a winged eye—but it’s a smudged wing, which you don’t see that often. I want to try it!

Tell me:

Which of Lily’s looks here is your favourite?
Which one do you think could be improved?
Have you tried any of the hair or makeup products she’s used?
